Gettysburg Connections at Antietam - Tour at Antietam Battlefield, March 15, 2026
Join us for our first 2026 tour: Gettysburg Connections at Antietam! In partnership with our friends at the Antietam and Beyond Podcast.
We will explore the Antietam stories of some notable Gettysburg individuals and units such as George Greene, Iverson's Brigade, Rufus Dawes and the Iron Brigade, the Philadelphia Brigade, the 1st Minnesota, John Bell Hood and the Texas Brigade, Robert Rodes and John Gordon, the 8th Ohio, Francis Barlow, and more.
When: Sunday, March 15, 2026. Start: 10:00 am. Expected End: 1:00 pm (Three hours).
Where: Start Antietam Visitor Center
(Note: Once we confirm attendance and headcount, we will discuss carpooling from the Gettysburg Heritage Center in order to minimize the number of vehicles on the field.)
Walking: Distance up to 2.5 to 3 miles over relatively flat ground (no steep hills).
Registration: $20 - fees to cover Guide fee and NPS admission fee only. We are using advance registration to confirm our head count in advance of the tour. As the Guide & NPS fees are based on number of attendees and vehicles, we might request a few dollars more (Guide gratuity, etc.) if needed.
Our Tour Guide: Jim Smith
A native of Miami, Florida, Jim Smith has been a certified battlefield guide at Antietam since 2018. Jim is a co-author of Armies of Antietam and wrote several chapters for Brigades of Antietam and Commanders of Antietam. He has an MA in history from the University of Georgia and undergraduate and law degrees from Duke University. A corporate lawyer for more than 25 years in the Washington, DC area, he has been with Hilton since 2011. Jim and his family live in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
