Join Gettysburg historians and Licensed Battlefield Guides Wayne Motts and Jim Hessler for this special one-day program at the Adams County Historical Society (625 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325) starting at 10:00 am on Saturday August 16, 2025.

The fighting on July 3 at Gettysburg was described by one participant as the most studied but least understood aspect of the battle. We will correct that situation by taking a comprehensive look at Gettysburg's third day from opening planning, through the fighting, and to the options remaining afterwards. Wayne and Jim will combine military and human interest stories in the following topics:

Commander’s Intent: Planning July 3 from Culp’s Hill to Cemetery Ridge

Lee’s Long Arm: Confederate Artillery in Pickett’s Charge

Under The Saint Andrew's Cross: Southern Flags in Pickett’s Charge

Meade’s Options After Pickett’s Charge: Cavalry and Reconnaissance in Force

Come indoors, beat the late summer heat, and join us at the Adams County Historical Society for this engaging program. Doors open at 9:30am and presentations begin at 10:00am. Lunch and beverages will be provided by Biggerstaff's Catering and are included in the registration fee. Jim and Wayne will also be on hand to sign copies of their books, including their joint effort, "Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg."

Registration: $98.00 - Please select your lunch choice below!
